Happy Monday, people of Patchogue! Here's everything you need to know in town today. First, today's weather: Mostly cloudy. High: 44, low: 28. Here are the top stories in Patchogue today: After 28 years, Latina advocacy group Sepa Mujer finds permanent home. Sepa Mujer didn't exist 30 years ago but, even after bouncing from one temporary home to another, the Patchogue social services nonprofit has become an indispensable part of Long Island's Latino community. A year after moving into a new home on North Ocean Avenue, the agency has nearly doubled its staff and developed plans for new programs aimed at providing more help for its clients, primarily Hispanic women affected by domestic violence, poverty and the struggle to learn a new language and culture. (Newsday) Indian Princess masterpiece at Lake Ronkonkoma awing visitors. For four years, passers by honked and waved as Todd Arnett climbed scaffolding and hacked away at a tree on the side of Lake Shore Road. Now, they honk and wave when they see him at ground level, looking up at his latest masterpiece: a 32-foot-tall carving of an Indian Princess. Atop a substantial base, the carved Native American woman overlooks Lake Ronkonkoma. Located on the north side of the lake at 279 Lake Shore Road, the princess holds a cormorant in her hands as she gazes across the lake at an Indian Chief carving, another Arnett original that he finished about seven years ago. (Greater Long Island) A dog who was stolen from a Huntington home during a burglary on Thursday was found safe and returned to her owners on Saturday, Suffolk police said. Stella, a 4-year-old French bulldog, was found on Rhododendron Drive in Center Moriches by a woman, police said. The woman's neighbors recognized Stella as the missing dog, police said. Stella was returned to her owners. The burglar(s) have not yet been arrested. (Patch)Pharmacists across Long Island say they are dealing with longer waits for medical equipment and smaller inventory of common, over-the-counter drugs, mainly because of the supply chain crisis that has stalled the movement of goods across the globe. The supply chain backup is making it tougher to get some prescription drugs and common items, from cough medicine and pain relievers to feminine products, as well as vital equipment such as ventilators and ingredients for COVID-19 tests. Some pharmacists said they started to notice shortages last spring and into the summer, with the situation worsening in recent weeks. "We are starting to have some issues with cough medicine and allergy medication," said Mukesh Patel, a pharmacist who owns Brookhaven Pharmacy in Patchogue.
