Here are the top stories in Myrtle Beach today: A 19-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and possession of marijuana in connection with a Saturday night shooting in Myrtle Beach. As of the time of posting, he was being held at Myrtle Beach Jail. The Myrtle Beach Police were on patrol near Sandygate Village apartments when they heard the gunshots late Saturday night, and responded to the scene. An individual who had been shot was already en route to the hospital when police arrived. (WMBF)The Blue Star Mothers of Coastal Carolina worked all weekend packing gift boxes for service members who are deployed overseas. The boxes cost around $22 apiece, and contain food and toiletries along with some Christmas candy. Costs are covered from donations brought in ahead of the event. The group estimates about 140 boxes are being shipped to service personnel stationed around the world. (WBTW) All aboard! The Polar Express will be stopping at the Historical Myrtle Beach Train Depot this Friday, December 3rd, from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m. This is the first time the train will be here. The event is free and includes two showings of the movie, Polar Express, as well as photos with Santa and story time with Mrs. Claus. (wpde.com)The annual Intracoastal Christmas Regatta kicked off the holiday season with over 30 boats participating in the popular Waterway parade on Saturday evening. The route starts at Little River Inlet and goes all the way down the ICW to Dock Holidays Marina. Spectators line up at various locations to see the boats. The vessels are decorated for a chance at winning awards. The big winner this year was the Hawaiian Christmas boat. (WMBF) South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a crash involving a Myrtle Beach Police officer driving a patrol vehicle on Saturday night. The crash happened at 9th Avenue South and Kings Highway in Myrtle Beach around 7:00 p.m. It is not evident whether there were any injuries. Don't worry if you live near Highway 90 and heard a loud noise on Sunday. It was the Horry County Bomb Squad and the U.S. Air Force safely detonating an unexploded ordnance. Officials did announce the procedure ahead of time, to notify the community. (WPDE)Horry County Deputy Coroner, Tamara Willard, has identified 42-year-old Adam Jarrett, of Tabor City, North Carolina, as a person who died from a gunshot wound on Thanksgiving Eve in Myrtle Beach. Jarrett died at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. Another person was also shot, and is recovering. Police say the two were shooting at each other, and a building was damaged during the shootout.
