Bury your heads in the snow with other like-minded women, lead by an all-female instructor team. This course is intended for recreational backcountry skiers looking to develop the tools to get out in the snow on their own. Basic familiarity and experience with backcountry travel and equipment is required. The American Institute for Avalanche Safety and Education (AIARE) Level 1 course is a 3-day, 24-hour introduction to avalanche hazards. With a mix of both classroom and field time, the focus of the course is to learn how to recognize hazards, how to manage and minimize them and finally how to respond in case of an emergency.
