Think about most of your favorite groups. How did you discover them? Probably through a recording, right? So why are we still focusing on playing out? I've done the whole touring thing--it's a blast, don't get me wrong--but right now is not the time for that. Let's put together a diverse group to make a stunningly terrific record, make some videos, hire a publicist, and then determine if/how to perform it live. Give the record a real launch, not some half empty release party at Live Wire. I'd prefer to play bass, although I also play a handful of other instruments. I can sing, but I'd rather to let someone else lead. Ideally, I'd love to have the studio itself as a major character in the makeup of the sound. While I'm at it, I think it would be fun to conceal our identities, like Daft Punk or Gorillaz. Add a layer of mystery and excitement to the whole thing.
