Discover the weird, irreverent, and expressive potential of collage! Unlock your creativity by transforming everyday materials and images. Instructor: Kirsten Francis Sunday, 1–5 PM January 30 (1 Day, 4 Total Hours of Instruction) AAC Art Studio $85/95 + $5 mat. fee Discover the weird, irreverent, and expressive potential of collage! Unlock your creativity by transforming everyday materials and images into a series of unique, postcard sized collages. Find opportunities to improvise and experience the thrill of working intuitively. You will also learn foundational collage techniques: how to use different cutting tools and adhesives, about sourcing and selecting imagery, creating a strong composition, and how to glue it all together. At the end of the workshop, you will have several completed collages, and the inspiration and know-how to continue to explore this fun and expressive art form. All levels of experience are welcome. MATERIALS: All materials will be provided, but please feel free to bring your own ephemera to use: scanned photos, old postcards, found images, book pages, letters, etc. (anything you are willing to cut up and glue down). In the week preceding the class start date, you will receive another email from [email protected] with more details. The safety of our students, faculty, and staff continues to be our highest priority and as such, attendees for all Winter Session in-person Athenaeum’s School of the Arts classes and workshops will either need to be vaccinated or test negative for COVID-19. In addition, masks are highly recommended, but not required. See below for details:   Fully vaccinated students must present proof of vaccination to the instructor at the first class meeting. Acceptable proof of vaccination: 1.      the physical COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card issued at the time of vaccination; 2.      a photograph of the COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card; or  3.      a digital vaccination record (which can be obtained at https://myvaccinerecord.cdph.ca.gov/) Students who do not receive COVID-19 vaccinations due to medical reasons or sincerely held religious beliefs can attend classes and workshops but will be required to present the negative results of a COVID-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours of each class meeting. Tests other than PCR, such as a rapid test or over-the-counter test, will not be accepted. In addition, it is highly recommended, but not required, that all students, faculty, and staff wear masks during class meetings as an additional layer of protection.
