Good morning, Austin! I'm Nicole Fallon-Peek, filling in for your usual host, Meagan Falcon. Let's get you caught up on everything you need to know to start this Saturday off. First, today's weather: Periods of rain. High: 51 Low: 45. Here are the top stories in Austin today: Austin's Thundercloud Subs Turkey Trot returned in-person on Thursday for its 31st annual event after a fully virtual run last year. About 14,000 in-person participants were expected this year, in addition to virtual participants who completed their own run or walk in their own neighborhood. One-hundred percent of the proceeds from the Trot benefit Caritas of Austin, the group that helps people experiencing homelessness. Drinking untreated water from springs can make you sick because this water typically contains bacteria, viruses, parasites, lawn chemicals, leaked gasoline, or other potentially harmful pollutants picked up from the ground. Water from most urban springs would not pass drinking water safety standards, especially after storms. (Press Release Desk)Texas Governor Greg Abbott and his family joined Meals on Wheels Central Texas volunteers on Thanksgiving morning to deliver about 350 meals to seniors in the Austin area. Shipping and supply chain delays, primarily spurred by a severe workforce shortage in the transportation industry, may slow down e-commerce deliveries. Still, Austin-area residents are determined to do some or most of their holiday shopping online.
