JUSTICE, IL — Tragedy has struck the Argo Community High School for a second time in six months, with the shooting death of a 15-year-old sophomore on Monday. Suri Davis, of Justice, had been dropped off by the school bus service at her apartment building in the 8600 block of South 87th Street. Jasmine Davis said her daughter was talking to her on the phone when the teen entered their building around 3:30 p.m. The teen was found dead inside the building several hours later. "She got dropped off from the bus service. She entered our building and proceeded to go into the apartment, but never made it up there," Jasmine Davis told WGN. "It was a tragic incident that took place in the middle of our building, inside the hallway area. My daughter was attacked, and I just want answers." The Cook County Medical Examiner ruled the death a homicide. The medical examiner said the girl died of a gunshot wound to the face. "She loved everyone and everyone loved her," Jasmine Davis said. Argo High School principal Brandon Cotter said in a statement that counselors would be available when students and staff return on Nov. 29. "Suri will be incredibly missed, and our hearts go out to her family," the principal said. In July, four Argo students died in a crash in Hickory Hills, where police said a teen driver tried to get the vehicle to go airborne by aiming at a crest in the street. The 17-year-old girl lost control of the car and hit a tree. She has since been charged as a juvenile with reckless homicide. The South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force is investigating. Anyone with information is asked to call the Justice Police Department at 708- 458-2192 or 911.
