Description

I am an intermediate drummer in my 40's, just beginning to learn how to play bossa nova beats and I am super excited to dedicate some real time and effort towards exploring bossa, samba, and latin-influenced funk / jazz / soul music with other players. So, if you have any interest in learning together, and/ or if you are an experienced player willing to jam with a drummer who is fired up to expand his playing and explore these styles, and you got a little patience and you'll have me, please reach out! I have a space to practice in and happy to host and/ or travel. As for styles and musical influences, I've been digging into classic stuff like Antonio Jobim, Joao Gilberto, Stan Getz, Cal Tjader, latin-influenced jazz records like Grant Green's "Latin Beat", Charlie Rouse's "Bossa Noval Bacchanal", and Kenny Dorham's "Afro-Cuban", Gene Ammon's "Bad Bossa", and Kenny Burrell's "Midnight Blue". I also really dig newer artists like Tommy Guerrero, newer Neo soul acts and cinematic soul albums (think albums released by Daptone, Colemine, Big Crown, Truth & Soul, etc.). As a drummer who loves classic soul, jazz, funk, and collects records and loves discovering artists and albums, I like to go deep as a listener and drummer. So if you're down to share, chat, connect, and play: I'd love to hear from you.
