Join the Student Veterans at the U in honoring Veterans while raising money for Veteran scholarships at the U! Let's kick off the 5k season! **This event is currently postponed to a later date due to COVID-19 in interest of public health. Thank you.** This 5k fun run is to raise money for the Student Veterans at the U club on campus at the University of Utah. The money raised will go toward supporting the efforts of the club: community service events and Veteran support activities.In addition to the events listed above, SVU will be offering a new scholarship to Student Veterans at the U: the “Dannie” Stubbs Memorial Scholarship. Laura “Dannie” Stubbs was an amazing person and has been sorely missed since her passing in 2017. She was a friend to everyone that came through the Veterans Support Center (VSC) at the University of Utah. She cared for the success of each individual Veteran – from ensuring they had a friend in the VSC to helping them register for classes. Her smile brightened any room she walked into, and her voice would fill the entire center. For these reasons, and so many more, her memory deserves to be honored, and her name is fitting for a scholarship dedicated to Veteran success. The Student Veterans at the U club (SVU) creates a support network for fellow veterans, increases awareness and understanding of veterans’ issues on campus, and promotes the success of student veterans through service, leadership, and now, scholarship. The SVU is a chapter of the Student Veterans of America.
