Description

A Wee Winter Warmer for alumni of Scottish universities with the National Chef of Scotland The Chicago Scots invite alumni of Scottish universities to a COVID-careful event, the Wee Winter Warmer. Meet the National Chef of Scotland, Gary Maclean, who will share insights on the COP26 UN Summit and his role as spokesperson for Zero Waste Scotland. Connect and network with alumni from many of Scotland's top universities. Enjoy the hospitality Scots are famous for -- bagpipes, bonfires, whisky, and Scottish fare -- outdoors on our five-acre wooded campus at Caledonia Senior Living & Memory Care in North Riverside. Gary Maclean, the National Chef of Scotland The Chicago Scots welcome everyone who is Scottish by birth, by heritage or simply by inclination. Celebrating our 175th anniversary, Chicago Scots is the oldest 501c3 charity in Illinois and the world's only Scottish Society to own and operate an elder care community. In addition to our traditional events -- Saint Andrew's Day, Robert Burns Supper, Highland Games and Golf -- we showcase the news and people of Scotland today. All of our cultural activities support Caledonia Senior Living, where our impeccable record of safety during the pandemic made national and international news. To celebrate our 175th anniversary we are offering a two-year free membership through the end of 2021. Alumni who join through this invitation will be entered into a drawing for a bottle of Laphroaig whisky. Special thanks to our partners: Scottish Government USA and the Scottish Universities Alumni of Chicago Established in 1845, the Illinois Saint Andrew Society, dba Chicago Scots and Caledonia Senior Living, is the oldest 501c3 nonprofit in Illinois. This year we are celebraring our 175th anniversary. Our principal charity is Caledonia Senior Living & Memory Care, an elder care community in North Riverside, where we offer a range of assisted living, skilled nursing and memory care services. Chicago Scots welcome everyone who is Scottish by birth, by heritage or simply by inclination.
