Good Friday morning Connecticut, For those of us who have to work today, it feels more like a Monday coming off of the big Thanksgiving holiday, but thankfully it is Friday and the weekend is tomorrow. Thanksgiving Holiday Traffic Statistics for Thursday The following are the 2021 Thanksgiving holiday traffic statistics, according to state police Calls for Service: 1,139Speeding Violations: 72Seatbelt Violations: 0Other Hazardous Violations: 81 (to include unsafe lane change, following too closely, cell phone usage, etc.)DUI Arrests: 12Accidents Investigated: 62With Reported Injuries: 12Serious Injuries: 0Fatalities: 1 Here are the combined statistics for Wednesday and Thursday Calls for Service: 2,980Speeding Violations: 117Seatbelt Violations: 0Other Hazardous Violations: 248 (to include unsafe lane change, following too closely, cell phone usage, etc.)DUI Arrests: 20Accidents Investigated: 200With Reported Injuries: 22Serious Injuries: 0Fatalities: 1 Details on the fatal accident during the holiday time period Quincy Rahim Hankerson, 20, of East Hartford, was killed in a one car accident on Route 2 in East Hartford, according to state police. State police said Hankerson was a passenger in a vehicle driven by a 19-year-old that was traveling on Route 2 westbound, east of Exit 4, in the right/center lane of four around 1 a.m. Thanksgiving Day. For an unknown reason, the driver lost control of the vehicle, state police said. The car crossed the highway to the left and struck the metal beam guide rail on the median, officials said. The driver suffered serious injuries as a result of the collision and was transported to the hospital for treatment. The passenger, Hankerson, suffered fatal injuries as a result of the collision, state police said. He was pronounced deceased on scene. This case remains under investigation.
