ELMHURST, IL — In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a semi-truck theft, a possible threat, a parking issue, porch piracy and a fugitive driver. Here is information from the latest reports: Thefts involving vehicles Catalytic converters were stolen from several work vehicles between 11:30 p.m. Friday and 4:30 a.m. Monday at MedSpeed, 140 W. Industrial Drive. An investigation is pending. A Freightliner semi-truck was stolen about 5:30 p.m. Sunday at Semblex, 900 N. Church Road. Surveillance video showed that someone entered the truck through a passenger side door. The person then got out of the truck and detached the tractor from the trailer. The person then drove the truck north on Church Road. Possible threat A person in the 400 block of West Third Street told police Tuesday that a suspect was in violation of his criminal sentence order during an email conversation. She said she believed the suspect threatened her. An officer spoke with the suspect, who stated he did not threaten her and the comments were made in relation to an ongoing court issue. Parking issue A car in the 200 block of North Oak Avenue had been parked in the same place for a few weeks. Under a city ordinance, the police on Monday red-tagged the vehicle to be towed. Porch piracy A resident in the 100 block of West Armitage Avenue told police Monday that she received notification that a package was delivered, but she could not find it on her front porch. She said she would follow up with Walmart and FedEx. Fugitive driver An officer tried to stop a car about 4:30 a.m. Tuesday at Lake and York for having tinted windows. The vehicle sped away from the officer, last seen heading east on Interstate 290. The case is pending an investigation.
