Meet Rusty! All Rusty wants for Christmas is a new human to bond with! Rusty is an 8 year old neutered, dock-tailed, house pet that seriously loves to play ball. He is in great health. Rusty was owner surrendered to us so we could help him find a better situation. He was purchased as a puppy from a breeder somewhere in central California and owned by the same family from the time he was 8 weeks old. His family had an adult son with special needs and as his new need developed for full time in home nursing care, circumstances left Rusty locked in the yard, separating him from his humans and leading to Rusty being alone all the time and miserable. His family knew he deserved so much more then that. A friend of our asked us to help. Rusty is currently living with us and is looking for a home where he can live out the second half of his life as a house dog in a stable environment. Rusty is good with strangers when out and about on leash and is good with kids that are dog savvy. Crate trained, housebroke and fond of men and women, and knows some basic obedience. Overall he is a good dog. He is current on vaccines, I have all of his health records. He currently lives with cats. Loves the water, and loves to follow my husband around while he is working in the shop. Rusty is the perfect dog for someone retired, or single, or has a busy life that wants a Velcro buddy and does not have time or desire to deal with the training and shananigans of a younger ACD. He is an energetic dog that wants to hike, and play ball, but also is content to stay home and relax, go for long car rides and just follow someone around like a stalker and hope for snacks. He gets along with my other dogs, I think he could live happily with an older female or calm neutered dog that would not compete for his ball. He isn’t looking for a playmate but can co-exist with others that don’t demand attention from him, he is good around all dogs when out for walks and on leash.
