Description
This member orientation is a required step in completing an MCM media certification track. Learn how to navigate MCM studios and processes. This short introduction class is the first in-person event since our 2020 studio closings due to COVID-19 and studio renovations. Come join us and engage in your first step in seeing Montgomery Community Media (MCM) up close and personal. Tour our studio(s), learn about our opportunities and network with other media makers. Whether you want to produce a show in our state-of-the art television studios or create content on your own and have it aired on our channels, this is where you begin. The orientation is an overview of MCM’s services, important organization policies, and opportunities for community members and prospective volunteers. You’ll learn all the exciting ways you can get connected and share your vision and talents with the Montgomery County community using our professional, broadcast quality resources. Along with MCM membership, orientation is mandatory in order to complete an MCM media certification track, be eligible to submit content to MCM's cable access channels and to volunteer with MCM. Only MCM members who have the MCM digital membership downloaded to their phone will be admitted. To receive your complimentary membership, visit our website. Email us at [email protected] for questions. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Why should I attend orientation? Orientation is the first step toward learning about content creation at Montgomery Community Media and producing shows for MCM. It provides you with information about MCM services and helps you figure out which classes to take. What does membership get me? Membership allows you to submit content to MCM channels, gives you access to discounts on classes and access to exclusive member opportunities such as reserving our studios and reserving equipment once you are certified. Contact us at [email protected] for more information. Visit our website to learn more about membership. Why should I become certified? Though facilities are not open in person for the fall, once we are back in person, certification + membership gives you access to tools, MCM facilities and equipment. You can still take classes if you are not interested in being certified! How do I submit a show for broadcast on cable access channels 19 and 21?
