Duties and Responsibilities:

This is a full-time position to assist the Indian River Research and Education Center (IRREC) Farm Supervisor in the tasks of apply fertilizers and pesticides, installing and repairing irrigation systems, repairing fences, disking, pruning, mulching, planting, and harvesting fruit; perform necessary tasks to maintain IRREC grounds, including ditches, research plots, and grassy areas; maintain all equipment by clean, lubricate, and check fluid levels on farm equipment; and maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times. The following equipment will be used to complete theses duties: tractors, mowers, forklift, herbicide sprayer, weed eater, chain saw, fertilizer spreader. Other appropriate duties will be performed as needed. Off-site work may be required. Continual communication and discussion with the IRREC Farm Supervisor about programmed activities and research objectives with the expectation that the employee will perform the work properly as instructed.
Qualifications
Required: At least 18 years old. VALID Florida Driver’s License. Ability to lift 50 lbs.
THIS POSITION REQUIRES A CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK AND A POST-OFFER HEALTH ASSESSMENT.
PREFERRED: Experience with driving tractors, mowers, and forklifts.
$16.00/hr., 5 days a week, 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Would appreciate a letter of past positions and work skills.
