Description
Help spread holiday cheer with Blue Star Families of Utah at this special event for military and Veteran families! Join us at Heritage Park and enjoy Elora's Light Foundation's holiday light and inflatable display. Stroll the grounds of the park and check out the hundreds of holiday inflatables as well as the park's signature Tree of Hope. This event is open to all active-duty, national guard, and reserve military servicemembers as well as all retirees, Veterans, caregivers, and Gold Star Families. Santa & Mrs. Claus will be joining us to visit with children and families for photos. There will be hot chocolate, cookies, and other holiday treats to enjoy! All pre-registered families will receive a special holiday goodie bag with items to create holiday memories with your family: games, crafts, snacks, and other surprises! Thanks to our partners at Discover, your family will also receive a Smith's grocery gift card to put towards your holiday meal or general grocery needs. Altogether these items are a $100 value! Due to the nature of this event, this opportunity is limited to 100 families. Pre-registration is required to attend, and one registration/bag per household only. * This is an outdoor event; please be sure to dress appropriately for the weather. There is limited parking at the park itself. However, overflow parking is available along 1075 West and at the Church on the corner of 1075 West and Oakridge Park Drive adjacent to the park on the South end. Please be advised that since public parks are technically closed in the winter months, the park's restrooms will not be available. Restrooms are available a short drive down to the Maverick station at the south end of 1075 West on Shepard Lane. This is an outdoor event. We encourage families to social distance as much as possible. An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any place where multiple people are present. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, senior citizens and Guests with underlying medical conditions are especially vulnerable to the effects of COVID-19. We at Blue Star Families strive to empower military families to thrive by connecting them with their civilian neighbors — both people and organizations — to create strong communities of support. As part of our core mission, Blue Star Families seeks to ensure military families experience a sense of belonging and welcome in the communities in which they live. As a result, we are once again beginning to host in-person events and want to do so in a safe way that gives our members, staff, consultants, and volunteers confidence. As a guest at any Blue Star Families event, I understand that I must wear appropriate PPE based on State and local requirements, as applicable for both indoor and outdoor events in my area. As guidance continues to evolve, Blue Star Families, with the support of health and government officials—will be making more gradual adjustments.
