Half-Price MBTA Transit Program Comes To Framingham

FRAMINGHAM, MA — Young people in Framingham can now get big discounts on MBTA transit trips via the newly adopted Youth Pass program. The Youth Pass is a special transit card that can be used to get about half off bus, subway, ferry and commuter rail fares. The program is open to anyone 12 to 7 years old and not enrolled in middle or high school, and anyone 18 to 25 enrolled in programs like SNAP, job training and alternative education. "Transportation access and cost issues can prevent young people from reaching the classes, trainings, medical care, jobs, religious, family, or social events, and more that they deserve to take advantage of and participate in just as much as everyone else," Framingham Mayor Yvonne Spicer said in a news release. "It's an equity issue that we know has a huge impact on someone's wellbeing, so I thank Wayside and the MBTA for lowering the barrier to mobility for Framingham's young people." Local eligible residents can apply for a Youth Pass at the Wayside Youth & Family Support Network's Tempo program at 68 Henry St. in Framingham. Find out more about eligibility on the MBTA website.
