The Downtown Milford Business Association has announced that select members are once again participating in Small Business Saturday, taking place on November 27. The annual celebration was founded by American Express in 2010 and is held on the Saturday following Thanksgiving to encourage holiday shoppers to support independent businesses across the country. "Milford small businesses have a way of bringing people together," said Tracy Bonosconi,DMBA President. "Our unique shops coupled with our beautiful New England setting make for an enjoyable shopping experience big box stores just can't offer. Small Business Saturday is really a way to celebrate the businesses that make Milford feel like home." Small Business Saturday not only supports local business, it creates a warm, friendly, and festive shopping experience. As supply chains present challenging shopping experiences with big box stores, Downtown Milford's small businesses offer curated, unique gifts, hand-selected by the shop owners themselves. Alternatively, gift certificates to local pubs, restaurants, salons, or other beauty businesses can treat your loved ones to their favorite local experience. This holiday season, DMBA is also offering the "Red Ticket Program"—for every $50 shoppers spend at participating businesses, shop owners will give one red ticket. At the end of the season, the DMBA will hold a random drawing and lucky ticket holders have the opportunity to win wonderful prizes. Special double-ticket days occur on Friday, 11/26, and Saturday, 11/27, as well as Friday, 12/3, and Saturday 15/4.
