Description

Press release from Town of Arlington: 11/23/2021 3:59 PM The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation released their annual Municipal Equality Index (MEI) for 2021. This is the tenth year of the MEI and the fourth year Arlington has been included. The MEI examines how inclusive municipal laws, policies, and services are of LGBTQ people who live and work there. Cities are rated based on non-discrimination laws, the municipality as an employer, municipal services, law enforcement, and the city leadership's public position on equality. Arlington received a final score of 100 points. "We continue to strive to make Arlington a community that is inclusive and open to all people and I am very pleased that we have again received 100 points on the MEI Index," said Arlington Town Manager, Adam Chapdelaine. "I'd like to thank Arlington's DEI Director, Jill Harvey, staff, and Arlington's LGBTQIA+ Rainbow Commission for their ongoing efforts to making Arlington an inclusion community." "We are very proud of Arlington's HRC/MEI score of 100 for a third year, a reflection of town wide efforts to be an inclusive and safe community for LGBTQIA+ residents, employees, and visitors" said Lisa Krinsky, co-chair of the Arlington LGBTQIA+ Rainbow Commission. "And....we still have more work to do! We look forward to working with Town administrators to promote more learning, policy review, and programming so that Arlington continues to meet the needs of all who live and work here." Arlington's past scores were 98 in 2018, 100 in 2019, and 100 in 2020. View Arlington's MEI Scorecard Read the 2021 Municipal Equality Index This press release was produced by Town of Arlington.
