Press release from City of Fort Worth: November 24, 2021 Did your neighborhood association pivot during the pandemic to save an annual tradition? Did neighbors launch a new project to help community members affected by COVID-19? The City of Fort Worth wants to recognize these efforts as well as traditional projects that revitalize, engage and celebrate neighborhoods. Registered neighborhood associations are encouraged to apply now for the 2021 Fort Worth Neighborhood Awards. The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 16. Projects that supported neighbors with food or personal care items might be eligible for a Health & Wellness Award. Efforts to cheer up, connect with or entertain those sidelined by COVID might be perfect for a Spirit of Fort Worth Award. Neighborhoods that used their creativity to turn typical activities into drive-thru, outdoor or virtual events could be commended in almost any award category. The Community Engagement Office urges neighborhood leaders to nominate their associations now. Award descriptions, rules and forms are available online. Awards are given for work completed between Nov. 1, 2020, and Nov. 1, 2021. Winners will be announced during the Mayor's Neighborhood Awards Luncheon Saturday, Feb. 12, 2022.
