Press release from City of Fort Worth: November 24, 2021 With historic and unprecedented funding to public schools from the federal COVID-19 recovery plans, Read Fort Worth, Fort Worth ISD and the City of Fort Worth affirmed their commitment to accelerating students beyond the academic performance metrics achieved before the COVID-19 pandemic through a new data-sharing partnership. An essential component of this partnership is the data-sharing agreement between FWISD and Read Fort Worth that provides formative metrics to catalyze improved outcomes for children through in-depth data analysis and identification of effective practices. Read Fort Worth serves as an impartial, third-party data team that highlights progress and mobilizes cross-sector community partners to action. Read Fort Worth and FWISD will deepen this partnership to include strategies implemented with federal COVID-19 recovery funding. The data-sharing partnership will be one step towards leveraging this generational opportunity to demonstrate fiscal responsibility to the Fort Worth community and define what it really takes to accelerate learning for all children. "Read Fort Worth is answering the call for what is happening in our schools," said Mayor Mattie Parker. "The partnership between Read Fort Worth and Fort Worth ISD is essential to boosting confidence in our public education system so that parents, community partners, stakeholders and business leaders know that there is an education expert that is independent of the district who is committed to data transparency, fiscal responsibility, understanding the entire context within which the data exists, and moving from awareness of the crisis to student-centered action." Read Fort Worth currently receives internal Fort Worth ISD data metrics and established a set of data sharing guiding principles that defines how data are used to drive academic improvement. The guiding principles of the data partnership include a commitment to using data to build trust, boosting confidence through transparency, celebrating what is working, identifying areas of improvement, and mobilizing to action by collaborating with cross-sector partners on solutions. "FWISD remains committed to our partnership with Read Fort Worth and their role in promoting the importance of early literacy for all of our current and future FWISD students," said Superintendent Kent P. Scribner. "The impact of the pandemic has shown us that it is a critical time for our students, and we have a communitywide responsibility to all do our part."
