SHOREWOOD, IL — The Will County State's Attorney's Office of Jim Glasgow has filed charges of traveling to meet a child and solicitation to meet a child against a 24-year-old man from Cary who drove to Shorewood intending to meet a 15-year-old girl for sex, authorities said. The criminal complaint was filed Tuesday against Jacob Schendel, who has not been taken into custody yet. The charges resulted from a Shorewood Police Department investigation. According to the complaint, Schendel drove to the Target store off Route 59 under the belief that he would meet up with a 15-year-old girl, back on May 3. Instead, court documents indicate, the other person who showed up was a founding member of the Save Our Siblings group, the same entity responsible for Joliet police's arrest of Jeremy Hylka back in May. On Monday, Will County Judge Ken Zelazo issued the warrant for Schendel's arrest and bail has been set at $50,000.
