PITTSBURGH, PA — The Steelers on Sunday mounted a furious but ultimately futile comeback in a 41-37 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. How they rebound this week likely depends on the health of the three defensive starters who missed that wild game: linebacker T. J. watt, safety Minkah Fitzpatrick and cornerback Joe Haden.
The Steelers (5-4-1) play the Cincinnati Bengals (6-4), whom they trail by a half-game in the rugged AFC North where no team has a last place record. The Cleveland Browns, who currently occupy the division cellar, are at .500 with a 5-5 mark.
The Bengals vaulted over the Steelers with a convincing 32-13 trouncing of the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. They beat the Steelers at Heinz Field in Week 3 of the season and will be attempting to keep pace with the division-leading Baltimore Ravens (7-3).
An added incentive is that a win Sunday would give the Bengals their first season sweep of the Steelers since 2009.
