Description
EAGLE ROCK, CA — A series of small brush fires prompted the closure of the eastbound Ventura (134) Freeway near the Glendale (SR2) Freeway in the Eagle Rock area Tuesday morning and afternoon. Smoke from the fires reduced freeway visibility, and the flames damaged guardrails.
Four small brush fires broke out alongside the freeway at the Glendale/Los Angeles border shortly after 11 a.m. Tuesday. Firefighters with the Los Angeles, Glendale and county fire departments had the blazes out in less than an hour.
There were no injuries, and no structures threatened. However, guardrail posts caught fire and were in need of repairs as of noon, according to the California Highway Patrol. Traffic was still being diverted from the area at noon.
The cause of the fires remained under investigation, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
