Description

Press release from City of Fremont: November 23, 2021 For the third year, Fremont has been recognized as one of 95 cities across the globe to receive an A score on climate action! CDP, a nonprofit environmental disclosure platform, has ranked cities worldwide on how effectively they are managing, measuring, and tackling greenhouse gas emissions and adapting to climate risks. Only 9.8% of cities that were scored in 2021 received an A score. CDP's A List of cities is based on environmental data disclosed by cities to the CDP-ICLEI Unified Reporting System. The list is designed to encourage and support cities to ramp up their climate action efforts. To score an A, a city must have a publicly disclosed city-wide emissions inventory, set an emissions reduction target and a renewable energy target for the future, and publish a climate action plan. A city must also complete a climate risk and vulnerability assessment and have a climate adaptation plan to demonstrate how it will tackle climate hazards. Fremont is proud to once again be on CDP's A List and will continue its commitment to leading on climate action and transparency. For more information and the complete list of cities, visit the CDP website. This press release was produced by City of Fremont. The views expressed here are the author's own.
