Press release from City of Fremont: November 23, 2021 Our community stands with the victims of the tragedy resulting from a vehicle entering the holiday parade route in Waukesha, Wisconsin. The Fremont Police Department would like to reassure our community that your safety is their top priority. Large special events and parades require closed roadways and resources from various city departments. Several years ago, the City invested in anti-vehicle barriers which enhance protection from accidental or intentional vehicle breach of an event's perimeter. Oversized vehicles and other barricades are also utilized. Police officers, community service officers, volunteers, and additional staffing all work toward ensuring a safe event. Flash Mob Robberies Recently the San Francisco Bay Area has experienced criminal robbery caravan activity. The Police Department's patrol and special operations divisions are on high alert and have plans in place to deter, detect, and respond if an incident were to occur in Fremont. The Department has communicated with many business owners and increased police presence at retail centers. The community can expect to see more officers and patrol vehicles in these areas. The Fremont Police Department also continue to partner with law enforcement throughout the region to coordinate a unified response to these crimes. The Fremont Police Department would like to remind our community members and visitors to remain aware of your surroundings and call 911 to report emergencies.
