Press release from the City of White Plains: November 23, 2021 ONE WHITE PLAINS Comprehensive Plan ONE WHITE PLAINS Comprehensive Plan CITY HOSTS INFORMATIVE & INTERACTIVE CITY HOSTS INFORMATIVE & INTERACTIVE PUBLIC WORKSHOP  PUBLIC WORKSHOP      The City of White Plains held the first public workshop associated with its One White Plains Comprehensive Plan update process last Thursday evening, November 18th. The One White Plains Opening Public Workshop took place at the White Plains Performing Arts Center (WPPAC) and saw enthusiastic public participation.  Mayor Tom Roach said, "It was great to see so many White Plains residents come out and participate in our Opening Public Workshop. I saw and had the chance to speak with many active community members as well as quite a few residents who were participating for the first time. Throughout this process, which will continue in 2022, we hope to engage all residents, business owners, and other stakeholders to discuss their priorities for the city going forward and shape that feedback into a cohesive and comprehensive plan for the next 10-20 years." The evening started off with an informative presentation by Mayor Roach, Planning Commissioner Christopher Gomez, and BFJ Planner Simon Kates which included an overview of what a comprehensive plan is, how it is used, past planning efforts by the city, and what the city has done since launching One White Plains. Participants were then asked to visit interactive stations to provide their comments and feedback around what will be the thematic elements of the plan. Since the process to update the Comprehensive Plan was announced, the city, along with its consultants BFJ Planning, has jumped into Phase I, called 'Imagine White Plains.' During this phase the city has focused on initial community engagement, including a Listening Tour (with 13 dates and locations around the city), a Visioning Survey, and research and review of prior planning studies in White Plains on the part of the One White Plains team.  The November 18th public workshop wrapped up Phase I by presenting the draft Vision Statement and Planning Goals and gathering additional public feedback at interactive open house stations.  Visit www.OneWhitePlains.com for more information about the process and to  share your input on the draft vision statement and elements.
