Help with sound bar set up

Help, help...i tried to set up my new sound bar and discovered that the hdmi was not arc. My optical does not work...the prior sound system plug broke off inside the opening. I was told that an auxiliary would work... I plugged the auxiliary into the sound bar but after tiring several audio options on the back of the tv...no sound. I am unsure I am plugging the auxiliary into the right options available.. Is there a way to get the sound bar working with this tv?? Help help..thank you so much for anything you may be able to clarify for me....I am not very savvy with this kind of thing 612-670-33six seven...
