Join us for a tasting of rare, small-batch Kentucky whiskeys. William Tarr exuded confidence the way a lamp gives off light. He sold watermelons from a horse-drawn cart as a kid. Before leaving high school, he had the vision to turn the family farming operation into a sustainable ecosystem. Touted in his prime as “Moneyman of the Bluegrass,” Tarr rose to fabled railroad-man and bourbon paramour, acquiring the Ashland Distillery — Lexington’s first federally registered distillery (RD1) — and taking it to bold new heights. Our speaker will be Barry Brinegar, Founder of RD1 Spirits / William Tarr Distillery in Lexington, Kentucky. William Tarr Distillery currently offers two whiskey expressions: Old William Tarr Inheritance is the ultimate ode to the Tarr legacy. Aged 12 years and bottled at a manly 120 proof. Smooth as a cool caramel spring. A rival to the finest bourbons available anywhere. Manchester Reserve is one truly virtuous 7-year bourbon blended with their very best behaved 8-year rye, dialing in complex notes from both distillates into one spirited bottle of amber liquor at 114 proof.
