WELLESLEY, MA — Several homes were broken into over the weekend in Wellesley while residents were home. Police said the burglaries happened overnight Saturday into Sunday in the Edgewater Drive and River Glen Road neighborhood. According to police, the robbers targeted home with unlocked doors, except for one. In that case, someone forced their way into a vacant home slated for demolition. "Items were removed and stolen from the homes while the residents were present," Wellesley police said in a statement. "The residents were unaware that anyone was in the house until they discovered the missing items the following morning." Police said they are also continuing to see cars getting broken into in Wellesley and neighboring towns. With Thanksgiving approaching, Wellesley police asked residents to take common sense precautions to protect their home's vehicles and families. Police said residents should lock their doors, set home alarms and call the department to report suspicious activity. Anyone with information is asked to contact Officer Mike Mankavech at 781-235-1212 or via email at [email protected].
