Description
ANNAPOLIS, MD — A sofa caught fire Monday inside an Annapolis apartment building, a press release announced. Firefighters said the accidental blaze injured one person and caused $500 in damage.
The fire started around 7:47 p.m. in the 700 block of Americana Drive. Crews found a light haze in the second-floor hallway of the five-story complex.
A team of 43 controlled the blaze in 15 minutes. First responders contained the flames to the living room couch and prevented further damage.
Nobody was displaced. Medics treated the victim's minor injuries on the scene. Officials released the occupant and expect them to survive.
That victim was the first to report the blaze. Their apartment had functioning smoke alarms.
