Here are the top stories in Des Moines today: Iowa's next redistricting battle will be local, as state officials gear up to redraw precinct and ward boundaries for school, city, and county seats. Cities have 60 days and counties have 90 to complete maps after Iowa approved new congressional and legislative districts on Nov. 4. Des Moines has tentatively scheduled a special City Council meeting to address redistricting on Nov. 30, according to city spokesman Al Setka. (Axios)A portion of southbound Highway 141 was closed after a deadly multi-vehicle crash killed one person on Monday morning. According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, a truck failed to stop for a red light and slammed into the back of a 2008 Nissan Sentra, which was pushed into the back of a trailer. The 47-year-old driver of the Sentra died at the scene. (KCCI Des Moines)Des Moines City administration buildings will be closed Thursday, Nov. 25 and Friday, Nov. 26 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. City garbage, recycling, and yard waste routes that normally occur on Thursday and Friday will also be delayed by one day.
