LAKEWOOD, NJ — A New Jersey woman was hit and killed Monday night as she walked down the center lane of Route 9 in Lakewood, police said. Francisca Lebron, 65, of Lakewood, was hit by a vehicle about 9:30 p.m. as she walked south between 4th Street and 5th Street, Capt. Gregory Staffordsmith said. Route 9 — also called Madison Avenue in Lakewood — has yellow striped center lanes on each block, formed by the left-turn lanes along the road. Lebron was taken to Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus by Hatzolah, but died of her injuries at 10:05 p.m., he said. No summonses have been issued to the driver of the vehicle that hit her as the investigation is ongoing, Staffordsmith said.
