Description
Many of us thought that CNG busses were a great idea. Use a very abundant and low-cost fuel for transit. Only problem, the storage tanks have a limited life, and must be recertified frequently after 10 years. Well that worked so well, why not include Propane fuel stations for school and transit operators. It is included in the infrastructure bill. Seems reasonable, since propane is cheap, right? Here is the problem. Propane is used as a home heating fuel by people in rural areas that often have no other way to cook their food or heat their home. Use by school busses and transit will drive the price of it sky high. Propane is separated from crude oil and Natural gas during processing. It is a tiny fraction of crude oil and no more than 30% of natural gas. So what was wrong with leaving it for home heating? If your local school has intensions of switching to propane fuel, PLEASE SET THEM STRAIGHT ON THIS. thanks, Bill
