Description
Press release from the Village of Palatine:
November 22, 2021
The program is designed for families who cannot participate in other holiday programs such as the Township Adopt-A- Family, but are still in need of assistance. Each child, under the age of 16 years, creates a wish list of necessities including clothing items ie: Jackets, clothing, shoes, socks etc… and toy items that they are in need of and would like to receive. A tree is put up at the Palatine Police Department, where community members and employees can pull off an elf and donate gift items. Each year, our program has assisted as many as 65 Palatine children.
A few days before the holidays, several Palatine Police Officers assist the Social Services Unit with organizing the gift items and we staff a pick up site where Santa passes out the gift items to the families selected. The families then have an opportunity to have their children meet and take photos with Santa.
Please consider selecting a child, purchasing the items specified on the wish list and turn in the unwrapped, donated gift items to the Police Department. Please advise the information desk personnel of your drop off and they will direct you to leave the gift items at the donation tree, where they will be collected. Donated items are needed by the evening of December 9, 2021. Please don't forget to turn in the wish list elf too!
