Drug Charges Filed After Delco Man Crashes Into Police Vehicle

CHESTER, PA — Authorities in Delaware County seized fentanyl and clonazepam during a drug bust in Chester last week, during which the defendant drove into a police vehicle. According to Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer, Jamar Robinson, 35, of Chester, had been arrested and charged with the manufacture, possession and delivery of a controlled substance with intent to distribute. Robinson's charges stem from an arrest warrant executed on his vehicle in the area of MacDade Boulevard and Bullens Lane in Ridley Township Thursday last week. According to authorities, Robinson during the arrest attempt drove a 2013 Dodge Durango directly into a police vehicle. After taking Robinson into custody, authorities found significant quantity of fentanyl and clonazepam, as well as a police scanner and cash, in the Dodge. At the time of his arrest, Robinson was out on bail awaiting trial on previous unrelated charges. "The law enforcement community in Delaware County is in a constant battle against the tide ofillegal drugs in our community," Stollsteimer said. "But the public should be aware of thespecial threat posed by synthetics opioids such as fentanyl. The availability of these cheapsynthetic opioids is killing people at a horrifying rate: recent data from the Center for DiseaseControl indicate that more than 100,000 people have died in a recent twelve-month period fromoverdoses linked to synthetic opioids. We must use all the tools at our disposal to keep thispoison off our streets." Robinson was remanded to the George W. Hill Correctional Facility in lieu of bail, which was set at 10 percent of $200,000. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 1. "I want to commend the members of the Delaware County Drug Task Force, led by CIDSergeant Anthony Ruggeri and Deputy District Attorney Laurie Moore, and the members of theChester Police Narcotics Unit as well as the Ridley Township Police Department for their workin making this arrest," Stollsteimer said. "Taking a substantial quantity of fentanyl off ourstreets is a victory for law enforcement, as well as a victory for the community."
