ELMHURST, IL — A person stopping shoplifters at an Elmhurst grocery store ended up getting into a scuffle with one of them Thursday, police said. According to a police report, two women loaded a shopping cart with high-priced alcohol about 9:30 a.m. at Jewel, 944 S. York St. When a person confronted the women, one of them removed four bottles from the cart and proceeded past the checkout lanes, police said. A scuffle then ensued between the person stopping the shoplifters and the woman, according to the report. The woman dropped the bottles. Both women entered a gold 1990s Chevrolet Malibu with an unknown temporary registration and left north on York Street, police said. The woman who got into the scuffle was described as black, 20 to 30 years old, 5-foot-10, 185 pounds, having black hair with red highlights, and wearing a brown jacket with a fur-lined collar and red pants. The second woman was described as 20 to 30 years old, 5-foot-5, 200 pounds, and wearing a black jacket with a gray fur-lined collar and black pants.
