ELMHURST, IL — In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a pit bull attack, a battery, a bank scam, a missing gun, harassing messages, curfew violations and a stolen tablet. Here is information from the latest police reports: Pit bull attack A woman told police she and her dog were bitten by a pit bull at 1 p.m. Sunday at Wilson and Swain. Both she and the dog suffered wounds. Battery Anthony Lacy, 29, of Carol Stream, was arrested Wednesday on a charge of battery. It was in connection with an incident that occurred about 10:30 p.m. July 18 at Route 83 and North Avenue. He was released on bond. According to a police report, Lacy was involved in an accident, got out of his car and approached the other driver, Jose Martinez, 50, of Chicago, who pushed Lacy. Martinez was charged with fighting in public in July. Now Lacy faces a battery charges in the incident. Bank scam A person in the 100 block of East Lake Street told police he received a text Nov. 16 from a person who posed as a representative from his bank. The suspect told the victim that there had been an unauthorized transaction on his account and that his user identification and security code were needed to reverse the transaction. The victim provided the suspect with his banking information and later learned that money was withdrawn from his account. Missing gun A customer of Napleton's Kia of Elmhurst told police Friday that a black zipper bag containing an unloaded gun was missing from her car after the car was serviced at the dealership. An officer met with employees, who said they were unaware of any gun in the car. Upon further inspection, the bag and gun were found in the car. Harassing messages A resident in the 100 block of East Park Avenue told police Friday that a suspect had been harassing her through text messages. The victim said she wanted no further contact with the suspect. Tampered with? A representative of Cuvee Cellars Bar and Wine Shop, 545 S. Spring Road, told police Saturday that the lock on the north door appeared to have been tampered with. The metal key cover appeared to be loose. However, there did not appear to be any tool marks on the key lock cylinder. No entry was made to the business, and nothing was missing. Curfew violations Youths were found to be in violation of the curfew about 1 a.m. Sunday at Berens Park, 493 N. Oaklawn Ave. They were referred to the peer jury program and released to a parent. Stolen tablet A man stole an electronic tablet about 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Shell gas station, 654 W. North Ave. The suspect returned the tablet to another location. The gas station did not want to sign a criminal complaint. DUI Jorge Lopez-Quiroga, 40, of Addison, was arrested about 11:30 p.m. Saturday at North and Route 83 on charges of DUI, operating an uninsured vehicle, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and driving with a suspended license. He was released on bond. He was arrested following a crash. Driving violations Craig Fonseca, 22, of River Grove, was cited about 1:30 p.m. Thursday at North and Berteau on charges of criminal trespass to a motor vehicle, no valid driver's license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and possession of marijuana by a driver. He was released on bond. Police report information is provided by local police departments. Charges are not evidence of guilt. They are a record of police actions on a given day, and persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
