PIMA COUNTY, AZ — The Pima County Sheriff's Department is investigating a report of a man following a 12-year-old child from a bus stop early Monday evening, northwest of Saguaro National Park.
The 12-year-old was walking home from the bus stop near the intersection of West Rudasill Road and North Chaparral Road, at around 5:15 p.m. Monday when a man began to follow the child, according to a news release from the sheriff's department.
The child confronted the man, according to a report to law enforcement, asking the man to stop and threatening to call police. The man reportedly continued walking toward the child and only ran away when the 12-year-old began to pull out a cell phone.
The man was described as light-skinned, around six feet tall with facial hair, and was wearing a black hoodie, blue jeans and black boots.
The Pima County Sheriff's Department advises parents to talk to their children about paying attention to their surroundings and to encourage them to report suspicious people to their parents, teachers or police.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
