Good morning, Atlanta! Let's get you started this Wednesday with everything you need to know going on in Atlanta today. First, today's weather: Plenty of sun. High: 59 Low: 37. Here are the top stories today in Atlanta: Just in time for the winter travel season, low-cost carrier Frontier Airlines has launched nonstop flights from Atlanta to Montego Bay, Jamaica, and Cancun, Mexico. The Denver-based airline has been growing its crew base at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, which Frontier says will include 400 flight attendants, pilots and ground staff within a year. According to Daniel Shurz, Frontier's senior vice president for commercial, the airline's wages alone will add $28 million to the Atlanta economy annually. (GlobalAtlanta)Ninety years ago, Coca-Cola commissioned an advertising illustration of a rosy-cheeked, jolly old man. The iconic image artist Haddon Sundblom created would go on to exemplify Santa Claus for generations to come and, indeed, remains one of the focal points of World of Coca-Cola's winter wonderland. Visitors to the downtown attraction can enjoy thousands of twinkling lights, larger-than-life decorations and festive photo ops with Coke's famous Saint Nick until Jan. 7. All programs are open to the public and include Chanukah celebrations, advent services, holiday concerts, a walk-through nativity and more. (Emory News Center)During Hanukkah, Jewish people around the world eat foods fried in and cooked with oil to commemorate the recovery of Jerusalem over 2,200 years ago. In honor of the festival, which begins at sunset on Sunday and ends Monday, Dec. 6, a variety of Atlanta restaurants will be offering traditional fried foods including latkes, scallion pancakes, fried cheese and more for Hanukkah feasts. (Eater Atlanta)An Atlanta pet supplier, Sun Pet LTD, was cited this summer by the United States Department of Agriculture for having such appalling conditions that - among other atrocities - hamsters began eating each other alive. Now PetSmart, a national pet shop, has stopped carrying animals from Sun Pet. "As soon as we learned of the findings from the USDA inspection, we immediately suspended our purchasing from Sun Pet while we launched our own internal investigation," PetSmart said in a statement. Another national pet shop, however, Petco, said they will continue carrying animals from Sun Pet, after being ensured of corrections. "We're aware of the citations SunPet received for isolated issues that were immediately corrected," Petco's statement read. "SunPet has since passed additional audits by both the United States Department of Agriculture and Petco's own animal care team."
