Position Summary In collaboration with the Production Manager, has oversight of tree service crew and daily production. Responsible for crew safety, compliance, and fostering a positive work environment. Qualifications •High School Diploma or equivalent preferred •2 Years climbing experience •2 Years supervisory experience •Certified Tree Worker or ability to obtain •Certified Line Clearance or ability to obtain •Aerial Rescue and Emergency Response for climbing and/or aerial lift operations •Strong communication skills both orally and written •Bilingual preferred •Demonstrated communications, interpersonal, problem solving skills and leadership qualities •The ability to travel may be necessary •Possession of valid California driver license, access to a reliable automobile and minimum state required auto insurance Essential Job Functions •Supervise and manage crew production •Daily communication with the Production Manager •Attend management meetings •Understanding of quality standards and health & safety regulations • Follow safe work practices and uses good body mechanics • Knowledge in performance evaluation and budgeting concepts •Great attention to detail with outstanding communication abilities; strong decision-making skills and a results-driven approach •Monitoring of production timescales •Conduct daily inspections of trucks and equipment •Manage company equipment and ordering of Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) •Conduct daily safety meetings with crew •Responsible for traffic control •Cut away dead, obstructive, or excess branches from trees and shrubbery •Utilize chain saws and work crews to safely cut down limbs •Climb trees with safety devices to properly cut down limbs •Prune or treat trees or shrubs using handsaws, pruning hooks, sheers, and clippers •Use lifts and power tools to gain access to high areas •Remove debris and cart away large limbs for disposal •Cut branches away from power lines •Cable, brace, tie, bolt, stake, and guy trees and branches to provide support Utilize climbing equipment or buckets of extended truck booms, and/or chainsaws, hooks, handsaws, shears, and clippers •Use shovels and rakes to clear debris •Clear sites, streets, and grounds of woody and herbaceous materials, such as tree stumps and fallen trees and limbs •Knowledge of ANSI Z133 Tree Pruning standards •Good knowledge of the principles and practices of tree trimming •Good knowledge of the safety precautions associated with such work •Skill in the use of the equipment of the trade, including power and hand saws and power sprayers •Ability to climb trees and work in high places; physical strength; agility; physical condition •Maintain current knowledge of OSHA/Cal OSHA standards •Demonstrate positive behavioral characteristics such as initiative, cooperation, adaptability, dependability and flexibility •Demonstrate open, honest and direct communication for promotion of a positive and supportive work environment •Demonstrate the ability to work with a variety of belief systems, respect individual choices and lifestyles •Follow safe work practices and uses good body mechanics •Other duties as assigned
