Description

I'm mainly a guitarist, but can get around on other instruments, so I suppose it's almost accurate to call me a multi instrumentalist... I have a deep passion for brazilian, cuban, afrobeat, exotica, lounge, film score & television themes, library music other outside, experimental and psychedelic forms. Yes, yes, I know and appreciate rock, pop, and what have you, but I could swing a cat and find a musician that is fixated on classic rock or whatever. I'm trying to go deeper. I've put bands together in the past in attempt to touch on my passion, but often is the case that I encounter people willing to follow my direction, but lack the passion or understanding of the style of music I am sourcing. Here is my attempt to find others around here who 'get it' so when I'm trying to make weird music I'm not surrounded by players trying to make it normal or who are trying to dumb it down for the plebes. I have absolutely no desire to do this with heavy dependence on techno devices like samples or sequencers or pedal board that can fill a desk. I am intrigued by unconventional instrumentation. If you play celesta, melodica, sitar, harp, cello, oboe bring it over. Please be able to play by ear and know enough about music theory to chart out what you hear. You have to be able and willing to show up, be engaged and whatnot. It's very nice that you are interested, but it means nothing if you can't make time to show up regularly. Also, love yacht rock and all the stuff that you grew up thinking was uncool. I like Neil Diamond and Barry Manilow and The Archies. I like Oldies. I'm definitely one of those guys who thinks most contemporary pop is absolute garbage.
