Description

Western Maryland 2-6-6-2 No. 1309's first enthusiast outing! Trains Magazine and Western Maryland Scenic are pleased to invite you to help welcome back the last Baldwin-built steam locomotive made for the USA. The world's largest operating Mallet will perform for you for three days. On Friday night, we'll enjoy a program on the restoration and the railroad's comeback and a night run to Frostburg. Soak up the sounds and scents of steam at work in the Allegheny Mountains. On Saturday, we'll spend the day between Cumberland and Frostburg at iconic photo locations with a 10+ car photo freight. That night, we'll stage a night photo session. And on Sunday, that's right, more photo freight opportunities on the legendary Western Maryland main line. You'll go home with great memories, full memory cards, and a fantastic experience. Event includes Friday reception on board the railroad's dinner train: breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Saturday; breakfast and lunch on Sunday. A cash bar will be available. please note: attendance will be capped at 100. photo locations will be kept to those capable of handling a large crowd. because the railroad has not run photo charters in several years, significant brush cutting must be done before key locations can be used once more. a portion of the proceeds will be used to start this task.
