Join Columbus Gives Back and Columbus Recreation & Parks for the Columbus Collision Wheelchair Rugby Tournament Columbus Gives Back and the Columbus Recreation & Parks Department need your help to host the 18th Annual Columbus Collision Wheelchair Rugby Tournament, our local competition for the United States Wheelchair Rugby Association! What: We need volunteers to help make the tournament a success doing a variety of things like running score table, penalty box, lunch, helping athletes, and general assistance. Where: Cleo Dumaree Athletic Complex 276 S. Nelson Rd. Columbus, Ohio 43205 When: Sunday, December 5th (11:00am - 2:30pm); We encourage you to check out other/additional shifts during the weekend by going here. Event Leaders: [email protected] What to Wear: Please wear comfortable clothing, supportive shoes and masks required. COVID-19 Precautions: Columbus Gives Back is following all recommended social / hygiene protocols. Masks are no longer required for outdoor events but please bring one to the event in case our nonprofit partners require them. Masks and social distancing are still required for all indoor events. About Columbus Recreation & Parks: On July 15th, 1910 the City Recreation Department was established to enrich Columbus by finding ways to make streets, alleys, boulevards, parks and public grounds more beautiful. On January 2nd, 1972 the City Recreation Department merged with the Division of Forestry and Parks to become the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department. We have grown from six to nearly 400 parks on 13,500+ acres, have established 29 community centers, five athletic complexes, six golf courses, 230 miles of regional trails, six splash pads and interactive fountains, eight outdoor pools and an indoor aquatic center, nineteen nature preserves, three reservoirs, five dog parks, a skate park and a range of programs for toddlers to seniors. About the US Wheelchair Rugby Association: The United States Wheelchair Rugby Association (USWRA) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit which provides oversight, development and administration to the sport of wheelchair rugby across the United States. Since 1988 the USWRA has been promoting and supporting wheelchair rugby to provide competitive athletic opportunities to eligible people with disabilities and also to empower people to reach their full potential in all areas of life. The USWRA features over 40 teams with more than 500 athletes across the country. About Columbus Gives Back: We love Columbus, young professionals, and getting involved! Our mission is to connect young professionals across central Ohio and engage them in our communities through 35-40 social volunteer and philanthropic opportunities per month. #SocialTwist: We have begun re-introducing social twists, where we invite volunteers to hang out with us after an event to have fun doing something local! As of May 1st, outdoor/patio social twists will be coordinated at the discretion of event leaders and volunteers.
