Come celebrate 104 years of Finnish independence! Hosted by: Finnish Heritage Society & Finlandia Foundation Bay Area Finnish Heritage Society presents and Finlandia Foundation Bay Area celebrate one hundred and four years of Finnish independence! Seating is limited to accommodate social distancing. Masks and proof of vaccination are required to attend in person. Featured speakers: Welcome greeting by Fred , Key Note Speaker: Mork Mårten Mickoss, Honorary Consul of Finland, poetry by Anita Erola. Mårten moved to California in 2003, where he found a culture very different than what he knew in Finland. "I had been dreaming about Silicon Valley since the late '80s; to me this was paradise. I joke and say that I thought Silicon Valley would be the promised land. It's even more than that---it's the overpromised land. If you don't learn to exaggerate, you're lost." It is still home to The Finnish Heritage Society, and is also used by local artists and community groups. Spaces are available to rent for classes, rehearsals, events, lectures, and more.
