Hello! My name is Travis and I work at the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada in Carson City coming up with fun programming. One idea that I had was to have local artists come by and display their work for about a month or so, and then do a demo or lead a group in working with their material. For example, if you are a painter, you could display your work for sale for about a month or so, and at the end do a lecture and Q & A about your work, and then lead a paint night in your style where you would be paid to show others some tricks of yours that make your style unique, in the hopes that others may appreciate your work even more. If you are a sculptor, you can display your work, do the lecture, and then because it may be too difficult to lead others, you could do a demo where people could watch you work to have a greater appreciation. Our main goal is to educate, and as a musician/artist myself, I have a goal of spreading art in the community. I find that there is a disturbing lack of appreciation for art in the world, so if you are passionate about sharing your art with the world, and educating people young and old about why it's so important, this could be a great opportunity! If you have an idea that features your art that is adjacent to what I proposed here, feel free to share it! I have flexibility in programming and want to be sure each artist's personality comes through in the art that they want to share and the way they want to share with the community.
