Warehouse Associate – Job Description Function: The position of Warehouse Worker is responsible for all aspects of warehouse functions including the receiving, storing, handling, shipping and preparing of product for customer delivery while maintaining the warehouse in a safe and orderly fashion. Duties & Responsibilities: • Receives material coming into the building by vendors, customers, or other warehouses accurately and promptly. • Verifies the quantity and description of materials received by checking merchandise against the packing list. • Prepares a receiving report if none is available. • Examine incoming shipments, reject damaged items. Appropriately report/record any discrepancies. • To accurately place materials on shelves, in racks or other designated storage areas in an orderly manner. • Enter quantity received against the purchase order in the computer system and print back order and inventory stock put away list. • Attaches identifying tag or labels to materials or marks information on cases, bales, or other containers. • Assembles and fills orders to be shipped to customers. • Preparation of all shipping documentation. • Review all orders to determine if they were picked correctly. • Safely and accurately cut designated lengths of wire. • Address maintenance issues of wire cutting tools and machinery. Be able to accurately identify various types and sizes of wire. • Ensure warehouse/equipment is maintained on a regular basis. • Safely operate all the necessary equipment in work area. • To accurately identify and count stock materials as listed on the cycle count list. • May be assigned facilities maintenance duties as needed. Complete requisition forms to order supplies from other departments. Prepare parcels for mailing. Sweep, dust and mop. Organize warehouse and work area for orderliness at all times. Wear the proper safety equipment. • Move materials and items from receiving or storage areas to shipping or to other designated areas. • Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color or product code. • File requisitions, work orders or requests for materials, tools or other stock items and distribute items to shipping or to designated route driver storage area. • Ensure warehouse is accessible and safe for salespeople and customer traffic. • Assemble customer orders from stock and place orders on pallets or shelves, or relocate orders to a holding area or shipping department. • Mark materials with identifying information using appropriate method. Open bales, crates and other containers. • Record amounts of materials or items received or distributed via appropriate computer program. • Assist in counting of physical inventory. Competencies: • Be able to identify product by size, type, style, color or product code. • Solid reading skills – must be able to read orders/match orders on shipping tickets to items picked. • Basic math skills and reasoning skills. • Certification of power-truck equipment. • Ability to understand and execute instructions. • General understanding of the warehouse and footprint • Operate inventory control equipment, i.e., bar-coding equipment, handheld devices. Qualifications: • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required • Warehouse and distribution Physical Requirements: • Ability to work at least 40+ hours per week with flexibility based on company needs • Able to move/lift minimum of 75 lbs. unassisted, repeatedly • Position spends 100% of time standing, walking, lifting, pulling and pushing • Ability to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist, and reach on a daily basis • Must utilize visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate equipment • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. • Able to withstand temperatures in a typical warehouse environment • Position may require climbing of ladders for top-level selection Note: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
