Need an introduction to winter tree ID, or to brush up on existing knowledge? Many people are able to correctly name trees when in leaf, but few can accurately identify plants from leaf buds and various other twig characteristics. In this program, we’ll look at some common specimen trees in Newport while in bud. We’ll go over terminology, varying characteristics between species, and tips and tricks to help you identify Newports trees when they are fully naked. Working hand-in-hand with the City of Newport's Division of Forestry, the Newport Tree Conservancy is is dedicated to protecting, celebrating and replanting Newport's legendary urban forest.
