Through song, creative expression and audience participation, Blue Christmas provides a space for people to name their loss and their hope. City Square Church, in partnership with Truth Meet Story, LLC, presents “Jesus, Jazz & Dessert Wine: Blue Christmas,” a night of jazz and homilies with dessert wine, at 6 pm, Sunday, December 5, 2021, at City Square Church, 701 S. 1st St., Phoenix, Arizona, 85004. The featured storyteller will be artistic theologian Alexus Rhone. Through song, creative expression and audience participation, JJDW: Blue Christmas meets people where they are and provides an opportunity for them to openly declare their loss and their hope. Attendees may rest assured that this is not a night of preaching, lecturing or selling anything to the audience. Our mission is to gather, to hear stories, to let the mystery of music wash over us, and to go back out into the world better for the experience. Alexus Rhone began her career as an insurance and financial services professional. With a Bachelor of Journalism/Public Relations degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Arts-Theology from Fuller Graduate School, she has over 20 years experience working in the private/corporate sector customizing workshops and branded events and coaching creative and true, first-person storytellers for live events. Past clients include GANNETT/USA Today Network, Leona Group, Lutheran Hostel, City of Phoenix, and City of Dallas/Office of Arts and Culture. She works with a team of associate producers to coach, curate and harness the power of stories.  Everyone has a story. However, everyone is not brave enough to step to the mic to tell that story.
