Description
Mike Lenahan will give us an update from AFS national. On 18, 2021, Mike Lenahan joined Badger Mining to further bolster its foundry business and lead its non-foundry industrial business development. Since 1987, Mike has been active in the foundry industry. He has held several key leadership and business development positions over his career including Vice President – Industrial Sales at Covia, and most recently, CEO for KB Foundry Services, where he will continue to serve as a board member with their organization. Mike is the current President of the American Foundry Society, where he is serving a second tour of duty. He also is a member and past chair for both the AFS EHS Division and Government Affairs Committees. In addition to his service with AFS, serving as a board member for KB Foundry Services, he also serves as a board member for the Ohio Cast Metals Association and the Foundry Association of Michigan. Mike holds an undergraduate degree in Applied Science from Bowling Green State University and a MBA from the University of Notre Dame. In his spare time he loves to fish and shoot skeet and sporting clays. He also is an avid collector of bourbon. He was once told he had the perfect disposition to be a terrible golfer, a comment he still considers a compliment. He and his wife Pam have two daughters (Caite and Emily), a very spoiled Rottweiler named Annabelle, one son-in-law named Travis (who scored multiple brownie points by graduating from Notre Dame), and a boyfriend named “Joe something” that is currently courting his daughter Caite, and “seems to be a nice guy”. Our organization is not for profit. We are part of the American Foundry Society, a national organization, and focus on making the foundry industry in western Michigan strong and prosperous. Our main efforts are: 1. Organize monthly meetings to bring foundries, vendors and related persons together to promote the exchange of knowledge and resources. 2. Promote understanding of the foundry industry by going to local schools and colleges to present the benefits and challenges of the foundry industry in the local community and the national economy. 3. Raise funds through the monthly meetings and our annual golf outing to distribute as scholarships and stipends to local students and as funds to support the industrial arts foundry and metallurgical programs at local high schools and colleges.
